Marvellous Mutts specialises in small group dog training classes and in private consultations for dogs with behavioural problems.  It is run by Dr Susan Rhind who is a qualified behavioural trainer and only modern, reward-based methods are used.

Susan began training dogs 9 years ago, spent 2 years formally studying dog training and behaviour, and is a Delta Society accredited Canine Good Citizen trainer and member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. She is also a qualified Greenhound Behavioural Assessor. Techniques used in training are the latest and up-to-date, and involve nice stuff only! With a strong focus on positive reinforcement and rewards, Susan’s services should soon have you enjoying the company of a well mannered and happy dog.

Susan is a wildlife and conservation biologist with a particular interest and experience in animal behaviour and training. She has studied and worked extensively with a range of wild and captive animals (including dolphins, monkeys and Australian marsupials) and continues to work professionally as a biologist and educator.

Training your dog benefits everyone - especially your dog - as a well trained pooch is given the most freedom of all. A well-mannered, calm and self-controlled dog is both appreciated and welcomed, particularly when out and about. S/he also receives much more good attention from family members and visitors than ill-mannered dogs.

Training also strengthens the bond between a dog and owner. It helps build communication, understanding and mutual respect, and gives owners a better idea of what leadership is about. Leadership is often misunderstood and mixed up with the concept of dominance, so during dog training classes we look at these issues and at leadership behaviour. We examine what makes sense and nonsense to dogs.
